The Hebrew of this passage reads: w'zarkha lakhem yire' shmi shemesh
tzedaqah umarpe' bikhnafeiha witzatem ufishtem k'eglei marbeq. Which
most English Translations render roughly as: And he shall arise unto
you who revere my name,the Sun of Righteousness with healing in His
wings and you shal spring forth as calves from the stall. I believe
this to be an inferior translation of this verse in light of the
association of such a translation with solar,lunar, and astral idol
worship, which the Torah forbids, especially for lay readers whose
only spoken language is English. In light of the fact that the word
Shemesh is derived from a common Hebrew/Shemitic root that also means
to serve, I believe a more satisfactory English rendering of this
verse would be: And the Servant of Righteousness shall arise unto you
with healing in His Talit[Heb.literally; wings] and you shall spring
